Maurice-Lang Hébert (January 23, 1888—April 11, 1960) was a French-Canadian poet, novelist, and a literary critic. He was born in Quebec City and studied law at Laval University. After a brief stint in the army he joined the provincial civil service. He was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada in 1935 and was a member of the Society of French-Canadian Poets. Hébert wrote many poems including a lengthy ode called the "Don Juan Cycle". His poetry is characterized as well made and precise using underlying romantic themes with varied rhythms. He was best known as a literary critic. Two of his books on the subject, "De livres en livres" and "...et d'un livre à l'autre" are available on Faded Page. One of his daughters was also a well known French Canadian author and poet who won the Governor General's Award three times for her works.
