Heine, der von jüdischer Abstammung war, musste 1933 aus Deutschland flüchten und gelangte über die Tschechoslowakische Republik schließlich nach Schweden.
Aus dieser Sammlung sind die Erzählungen "Der Teufel im Warenhaus" und "Lusi" auch als Einzeltexte bei Faded Page erhältlich.

Despite the title, not a book for children. The gifted caricaturist Th. Th. Heine takes aim at stuffy characters and situations in bourgeois late 19th/early 20th century Germany. Of Jewish descent, Heine was forced to flee the country in 1933 and ultimately ended up in Sweden.
