Author Bio for Thomas, Dylan
Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) was a Welsh poet and writer. Born in Swansea, he began writing poetry while still in school. He worked as a journalist, and was involved in broadcasting and film-making. In addition to verse he wrote a large amount of prose including Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, a collection of autobiographical short stories. His romantic, affirmative, and rhetorical style won him a large following of literary admirers. He died in 1953 on a visit to the United States. (The Oxford Companion to English Literature)
