Author Bio for Godsell, Philip Henry
Philip Henry Godsell (1889-1961) was an English born Canadian writer and northern explorer. He joined the Hudson's Bay Company in 1906 and started his work when he arrived at York Factory, Manitoba on the shores of Hudson's Bay. Over the next 30 years he worked as a post inspector which meant travelling to many remote HBC outposts throughout the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Much of his travelling was done in winter when it was easier to travel by dog sled. He wrote about his experiences through several books and many short stories. (Provincial Archives of Alberta)
