Author Bio for Carman, (William) Bliss
Bliss Carman (1861-1929) was a Canadian poet. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he was educated at the University of New Brunswick and also universities in Edinburgh and Harvard. He worked as an editor for several American newspapers and magazines. He became noted as a poet writing for Christmas card companies and freelance submissions of poetry to magazines. Many of his poems were collected in books. After his death in 1929 some Canadian poets criticized his work but more recently his work has been reappraised and appreciated. His later collections, Far Horizons and Wild Garden are available here at Faded Page. (The Macmillan Dictionary of Canadian Biography)
