Author Bio for Brightwell, Cecilia Lucy
Cecilia Lucy Brightwell (1811-1875) was a British author and etcher. She studied etching under John Sell Cotman and she became a skilled copyist of old masters. She produced illustrations for her father's 1848 book, Sketch of a Fauna infusoria for East Norfolk. Her own books were mainly biographical in nature, her first and most significant work being Memorials of the Life of Amelia Opie. Late in her life she was afflicted by cataracts which led to blindness and eventually she died due to some sort of brain tumour. (Norfolk Women in History)
