Charles William Colby (1867-1945) was a Canadian historian. Born in Quebec and educated at McGill and Harvard, he became a teacher at McGill in English and history. He wrote a number of books on Canadian history including Champlain: The Founder of New France and Frontenac: The Fighting Governor (MacMillan Dictionary of Canadian Biography)
