Author Bio for King, Basil

Author Image

Basil King (1859-1928) was a Canadian author. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, he first joined the clergy where he ministered to Anglican congregations in Nova Scotia and Massachusetts. Failing eyesight forced him to leave the profession and in 1900 he turned to writing instead. He published many novels over the course of his life, mainly with romantic themes laced with highly moral and spiritual tones. Marriage and divorce viewed from a religious standpoint were a major plot focus in many of his books. His best known book, The Conquest of Fear, had a religious-philosophy theme.
