Author Bio for Campbell, Duncan
Duncan Campbell (1818-1886) was a Scottish-Canadian journalist and historian. Born in Oban, Scotland, he worked for daily papers in Glasgow. In 17=866 he emigrated to Canada, settling in Nova Scotia. He was commissioned by Charles Tupper to survey Nova Scotia as a home for settlers. It was this that got him interested in historical aspects of the Maritimes. His first publication on Nova Scotia was not well received but his History of Prince Edward Island was received with considerable success. The book covers the period of time from the English takeover of the island in 1763 to the time of publication in 1875. (Dictionary of Canadian Biography)
