Author Bio for Price-Brown, John

John Price-Brown (1844-1938) was an English born Canadian author. His family emigrated to Upper Canada when he was a child. He studied at the University of Toronto to become a medical doctor. He specialized in otorhinolaryngology, which led to the publication of his first book in 1900, "Diseases of the Nose and Throat". He began to write novels after this, in particular his tale about the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837, entitled, "The Mac's of '37". Progressive blindness forced him to retire in 1920 and also inhibited his writing. His final book, "Laura, the Undaunted" tells the story of Laura Secord. The book details her life before her famous participation in the War of 1812. (The Dusty Bookcase)
