Author Bio for Scadding, Henry, Rev
Henry Scadding (1813-1901) was a Canadian historian and clergyman. He was born in England and came to Upper Canada as a child in 1818. He was ordained in 1837 and he worked as a priest at St. James church in Toronto. Other than his religious affiliation, Scadding's main interest was in history and especially that of his home town, Toronto. He is known for such books as Toronto of Old and A History of the Old French Fort at Toronto. While Scadding's books were what some might call the "Good Parts Version" of history, avoiding tales of scandal and intrigue, he is notable for providing a glimpse of life in early Toronto.
